Camille | A Personal Story

Over the summer I asked Camille if I could come to her home in the country and photograph her. She graduated high school with one of my younger sisters and I’ve always loved her sweet spirit. She’s a kind person with a beautiful smile and a heart to match. I was thrilled that she agreed to let me go out and take some portraits of her. The great thing about doing personal portraiture is I get to explore and try out different things. This session was even more special because it was one of the last ones I did with my faithful older camera before I bought Marco, my Mark ii. :]

We started the session in a large patch of Queen Anne’s Lace. Camille was playing with something by her legs at one point. When she looked down, she told me she was pretty sure it was poison ivy. I felt a little itchy after that myself for a bit! I’m really glad neither of us actually ended up with poison ivy after the fact, though!

This next one reminded me of something befitting a story book…

Camille, you are beautiful, my dear!

Fireflies were out, though they were swiftly transformed into little yellow bokeh-dots. ;]

Camille, thank you for being my model on a terribly hot and sticky July day! I loved photographing you and just being around you for awhile again. Hopefully we’ll see each other again soon! :]

Ciara | Northern KY Senior Portraits

I had such a great time with Ciara when we did her senior portraits! We used her family’s property for the session. There were so many great places to shoot! Ciara drove us down hills and over trails like a pro throughout the night. (We definitely wouldn’t have fared as well had I been driving! :] )

Ciara attends the same high school I graduated from a few years ago. She’s also involved in the school yearbook and enjoys photography, which were both fun connections. I really enjoyed getting to spend time with her! :]

I admit it, I had a mini spaz attack when I reviewed this next set. How gorgeous is she?! Seriously!

Ciara’s dad “acquired” this sign awhile back. She thought it would make a nice prop for her session. She was right! :]

Ciara’s family is from Oregon originally. They’re still from there at heart, that’s for sure!

Ciara, you have a gorgeous smile and just as striking of a personality. I’ve loved getting to know you better and hope you have a great time this year! :]

Baby M & Symone | A Little One Story

I first met Symone at a photography event I organized and photographed, with the help of my dear friend and fellow photographer, Arielle. Living Church, a group I love and am involved in, sponsored the project back in April of this year. I had told Symone shortly after the first session to contact me when Baby M turned 3 months old. She got in touch with me and we met up again to do his 3 month photos. I was smitten with this little guy! He had changed so much in three short months, and I loved his bright eyes, chubby limbs and curly hair. His smile was infectious and I loved being with him and his mama for awhile. Symone is a beautiful woman with a sweet, fun spirit. Her love for Baby M shone through the entire session and she radiates that affection in the photos. It was an honor to work with both of them again! :)

Bonnie & Matthew | A Wedding Story

It was a cool, rainy day in April that Bonnie & Matthew were married. Some couples would have been overwhelmed by the darker weather and gotten upset by the lack of sun. Not these two. The overcast sky and drops of rain didn’t phase them one bit! They kept their focus on what was important- their love.

I was able to be there on their wedding day thanks to Sandra Freyler, a friend and fellow photographer in the area, who had asked me to be her assistant and second photographer. I quickly & happily accepted. This was the first wedding we worked together- and my first of the 2011 wedding season. Despite the weather, it was a great day!

I love how easily you see their love for one another in their photos. :)

The stained glass windows at St. Paul’s were so beautiful! The whole church had a really classic, beautiful feeling to it. Definitely a great place to get married.

I love Matthew’s thumbs up in the last photo. These two were such a loving, kind couple! They were fantastic to work with and both had wonderful attitudes throughout the day. Congratulations, Bonnie & Matthew!

(Want to see more of these two? Check out Sandra’s photos here!)
